"First Day of School"
Yesterday was my 5-year-old daughter Quinn's first day of Kindergarten. I didn't get emotional like I thought I might. Quinn has been going to an afternoon pre-school for the past 2 years, so afternoon Kindergarten wasn't really a big deal, in fact, she was really happy to be able to go to school 5 times a week, instead of the 3 times a week at pre-school.
The question is... at what point will school no longer be fun for her? It's bound to happen, I'm just sure of it. As a kid, I don't think I full on HATED school, but I don't remember ever being as excited for it as Quinn seems to be. Hopefully that won't change. I remember hearing my neighbors growing up send their youngest to Kindergarten kicking and screaming every day.
So what can I do take make sure that doesn't happen...
Thanks for listening!

"New Steven Page Single: Indecision"

So I wouldn't call myself a "hardcore" Barenaked Ladies fan. But I do enjoy their music, think they're very talented people - and agree that they're pretty funny as well.
I had the chance to interview them this past January - and when I say "them," I mean the four remaining members - post Steve Page. In the interview, I told Ed Robertson that I didn't feel too bad about Steven Page leaving, as I had always enjoyed the songs that featured Ed on lead vocals better than those featuring Steven.
I know what you're thinking. "Why would you ever say something like that?" I'm still wondering the same thing - but I did it anyway. 'Cause it was true. I liked BNL, but wasn't completely cool with Steven Page's vocals. They just rubbed me the wrong way. So for me, him leaving the band was actually somewhat of a plus. Yes, the departure throws wrenches into songs like 'Million Dollars,' but these guys are creative, they figured out ways to work around it. The new BNL album that came out was pretty good - not as memorable as their early stuff, but good stuff.
Now comes Steven Page with his solo album. It's not really his first solo album. This is his third album released outside of BNL, but his first post-BNL. I had the chance to hear the lead single yesterday, 'Indecision.' And my review? Indecision. I can't make up my mind about it. I don't hate it. I don't love it. It sounds like a Steven Page lead song from BNL. Almost.
Will it be a hit? Not sure. I listened to it three times yesterday. I couldn't even hum the tune right now. Click here for a little sample from his website.
Thanks for listening!

"Best sandwich ever!"
So the title might be a little deceiving. I'm not exactly sure what the "best sandwich ever" is. But I will tell you about the one I just had for lunch; the one I'll be thinking about for the rest of the day. A pastrami sandwich on marble rye bread from Town & Country in I'm thinking about it right now. It's one of those sandwiches that is filling, but at the same time, leaves you wanting more. I'm pretty sure that if I made a sandwich like this, using the exact same materials and such, it wouldn't taste nearly as good. That's what I love about sandwiches - they always taste better when someone else makes them. posted by
